Nintendo has officially announced a highly anticipated Nintendo Direct. However, this showcase will solely focus on Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. Fans can watch the stream today, August 4, at 7:00 PM PKT / 7:00 AM PT. The game will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2. Therefore, interested players should tune in to see what the upcoming tactical RPG has to offer.
Where to Watch the 20-Minute Nintendo Direct Stream
Nintendo of America shared the announcement via the Nintendo Today app and their official Twitter account. Consequently, viewers can catch the roughly 20-minute presentation on the official Nintendo YouTube channel or the Nintendo Today app. Historically, Nintendo uses these game-specific Directs for major deep dives. For example, the company aired a similar stream for Splatoon Raiders in June before its July 23 launch.

Now, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave gets the spotlight ahead of its scheduled September 17 release. Furthermore, the broadcast needs to impress fans. The game currently carries a controversial $80 price tag. As a result, it stands alongside Mario Kart World as one of the most expensive Nintendo Switch 2 titles. This presentation gives Nintendo the perfect chance to justify that premium cost.
Story Connections & the Heroic Games
The new title takes place in the same world as Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Specifically, players will explore the Dagdan Empire, which neighbors the familiar region of Fodlan. During the campaign, players will select one of four protagonists. Then, they will compete in the Heroic Games. Ultimately, the winner earns a wish from the Divine Sovereign.
Interestingly, the goddess Sothis from Three Houses makes a return. Yet, her exact role in the upcoming story remains unclear. The Direct will likely explore these narrative threads and complex gameplay mechanics.
A Stacked Roster for Nintendo Switch 2
Currently, Nintendo has not announced a general Direct. Fans waiting for broader updates will just have to wait a bit longer. After all, the company still plans to release The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake later this year. So far, Nintendo has only shown a very brief teaser for that project.
Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch 2 owners have plenty of content to play. August alone features five major game releases. Notably, this massive lineup includes The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered and the highly anticipated Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. Therefore, players will have plenty to keep them occupied until the next general Nintendo Direct arrives.
