The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a Rs. 0.75 per unit increase in electricity tariffs for consumers across Pakistan under the June 2026 Monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA).
According to NEPRA’s notification, the additional amount will apply to electricity consumers nationwide, including K-Electric customers, and will be reflected in August 2026 electricity bills.
The latest increase is lower than the Rs. 1.20 per unit adjustment requested by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA).
After reviewing the request, NEPRA approved an increase of only Rs. 0.75 per unit, providing partial relief compared with the amount initially sought by the power purchasing agency.
The decision comes after NEPRA approved a Rs. 0.34 per unit increase under the May 2026 Fuel Cost Adjustment, continuing the monthly mechanism through which changes in electricity generation costs are passed on to consumers.
The Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) is a monthly mechanism used to account for changes in the actual cost of electricity generation.
It primarily reflects fluctuations in fuel prices, imported energy costs, the electricity generation mix and overall power purchase expenses.
Unlike the base electricity tariff, FCA charges can increase or decrease from month to month depending on the actual cost incurred by power generation companies.
The latest increase will add to electricity bills at a time when consumers have experienced significant fluctuations in power tariffs.
Although consumers received temporary relief in recent months through a negative Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA), the latest FCA increase highlights the continuing volatility in Pakistan’s electricity pricing system.
The Rs. 0.75 per unit adjustment will therefore be included in August 2026 bills, adding to the cost of electricity for consumers across the country.
