A Closer Look at the Leaked Design
The leaked images showcase a striking Zelda Switch 2 console. The special Joy-Cons feature different shades of green. Additionally, the left Joy-Con displays the iconic Triforce symbol. The Switch 2 dock also proudly wears the Triforce on its front.
Meanwhile, the Pro Controller rocks a sleek green, black, and gold color scheme. It places the Zelda franchise logo right in the middle of the gamepad. Currently, we do not have any pricing information for these products. Furthermore, the retail packaging suggests that the Zelda-themed Switch 2 console does not actually include the game itself.
The Zelda 40th Anniversary Connection
Interestingly, the packaging for the Zelda Switch 2 Pro Controller includes a very specific detail. It features a badge denoting the Zelda 40th Anniversary celebration. Up to this point, Nintendo has largely ignored this major milestone.
Therefore, this specific packaging detail heavily hints at an upcoming broadcast. Nintendo traditionally hosts Direct presentations in September. Consequently, this leak fuels speculation that a special Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct will happen very soon.
What About the Ocarina of Time Remake?
Nintendo first announced the Ocarina of Time remake during the June Nintendo Direct. During the show, the company only revealed a brief cinematic of Link sleeping in his house. As a result, gamers know almost nothing about the actual project right now.
Developers might deliver a simple 1:1 graphical upgrade of the N64 classic to meet modern standards. Alternatively, they could launch an ambitious reimagining that drastically changes the source material. Regardless of the direction, the game will officially launch later this year in 2026.
Beyond showcasing the Ocarina of Time remake, a future Zelda Direct could reveal much more about the franchise. Fans might finally see the long-rumored Switch ports of ‘Wind Waker HD’ and ‘Twilight Princess HD’. For now, players must keep their expectations in check and wait for Nintendo to confirm these exciting hardware leaks.
