Great Wall Motors (GWM) vehicles, assembled in Pakistan under the HAVAL and TANK brands by SAZGAR, are facing an unexpected market shift. The automaker recorded a noticeable gap between its production output and actual market sales last month.
During July 2026, the company produced a strong 1,778 four-wheeler vehicles. However, it managed to sell only 663 units in the same period. Consequently, this left an inventory surplus of 1,115 unsold vehicles sitting at dealerships and factory lots.
This creates a sharp contrast with the same period last year. In July 2025, GWM maintained an impressive balance, producing 1,198 units and successfully selling 1,079 of them.
| Period | Production (Units) | Sales (Units) | Unsold Surplus |
| July 2025 | 1,198 | 1,079 | 119 |
| July 2026 | 1,778 | 663 | 1,115 |
Strong Run by GWM Hit by a Sudden Slowdown
The July 2026 figures break a highly successful streak for the automaker. Throughout the 2025-2026 fiscal year, GWM maintained a dominant position. The company successfully rolled out a total of 19,341 units over the 12-month period. Furthermore, they sold 19,111 of those vehicles, showcasing intense market demand and excellent inventory management.
Earlier in 2026, the company recorded massive monthly output and sales growth. For instance, April 2026 saw an impressive 2,537 vehicles produced and 2,224 units sold. Similarly, June 2026 closed the fiscal year on a high note, with 2,374 units produced and a massive 2,719 units flying out of showrooms.
| Month (2026) | Production (Units) | Sales (Units) |
| April | 2,537 | 2,224 |
| June | 2,374 | 2,719 |
| July | 1,778 | 663 |
Therefore, the latest numbers indicate a clear and abrupt shift in market momentum.
Temporary Blip or Weaker Demand?
The sudden drop in monthly sales raises immediate questions about current inventory levels and shifting consumer demand. GWM maintained a strong production performance at the start of the new fiscal year. However, the market did not respond with the same buying enthusiasm.
Ultimately, automakers closely monitor these gaps to avoid overproduction. The massive surplus of more than 1,100 unsold units in just a single month will force the company to evaluate its strategy. Whether this translates into a temporary economic slowdown or serves as an early indicator of weaker market demand remains to be seen.
