The federal government has announced a public holiday across Pakistan on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).
According to an official notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Friday, the holiday was approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to mark 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH, commemorating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The announcement follows the Cabinet Division’s earlier circular outlining public and optional holidays for 2026.
The government has directed that the notification be given wide publicity through major English and Urdu newspapers as well as electronic media.
As a result, public and private offices, educational institutions and other organisations across the country are expected to observe August 26 as a public holiday, subject to applicable government rules.
