The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has proposed a 20% increase in toll rates for Swat Expressway Phase I, with the revised charges subject to approval by the provincial cabinet.
The proposal was included in the agenda for the 57th meeting of the KP Cabinet, which was scheduled to review the revised toll rates. However, the cabinet meeting planned for August 21 was postponed.
If approved, the toll for Swat Expressway Phase I will increase from Rs. 270 to Rs. 324. The proposed Rs. 54 increase represents a 20% rise in the existing toll rate.
The revision is part of the provincial government’s plan to update toll charges for the expressway. The proposed increase has not yet taken effect and will require formal approval from the KP Cabinet.
The revised toll rate will only be implemented after the cabinet approves the proposal.
The government is expected to consider the matter at a rescheduled cabinet meeting, following the postponement of the August 21 session.
