Vivo has confirmed another major detail about its upcoming X500 series, revealing the chipset that will power the X500 Pro models. The company previously shared several camera details for the X500 Pro Max. The Vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max will use a new 2nm MediaTek Dimensity chipset. vivo has not revealed the chip’s exact model yet, but its manufacturing details offer some important clues.
The chipset will use TSMC’s second-generation 2nm N2P process. It also comes with a new GPU architecture and an “ultra-high-performance NPU” designed to handle demanding AI tasks. Vivo is also adding a new imaging chip to both Pro models. It will support 4K 120fps 10-bit Log recording and 60fps video autofocus tracking.
The imaging system will also support 4K Dolby Portrait video and one-tap AI video highlight generation. Hardware-level video super-resolution is another feature included with the new chip. Recent leaks point to the unannounced MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro as the possible chipset behind the X500 Pro series. However, vivo has yet to confirm that name.
The company is expected to reveal more details about the X500 series soon. For now, the move to a 2nm Dimensity chip suggests vivo is placing a strong focus on performance and camera capabilities.
