The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has approved a threefold increase in MBBS seats at Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC) Mardan, raising the total number of seats from 50 to 150.
The council issued an official notification approving the increase after conducting an inspection of the medical college on August 27 and 28, 2026. The revised intake will apply from the 2026-27 academic session.
The PM&DC Deputy Registrar (Inspection) formally communicated the decision to the Dean of Bacha Khan Medical College.
The increase will create additional opportunities for students from Mardan and surrounding areas to pursue medical education. It will also significantly expand the college’s capacity to train future doctors.
BKMC Dean Prof. Dr. Jawad Ahmad congratulated the faculty, administration and supporting staff for their efforts in completing the PM&DC inspection and securing approval for the increased intake.
He also acknowledged the contributions of directors, associate deans, managers, chairpersons, faculty members and other staff for their teamwork and cooperation in achieving the milestone.
Prof. Dr. Jawad Ahmad said the increase reflects BKMC’s commitment to maintaining high standards in medical education. He added that the expanded intake would enable more deserving students to pursue their goal of becoming medical professionals.
The increase in MBBS seats is expected to provide greater access to medical education for students in Mardan and nearby districts from the upcoming academic session.
