Lahore Traffic Police have warned that drivers caught operating vehicles with suspended driving licenses will face criminal cases as authorities intensify action against motorists involved in fatal and serious road accidents.
According to Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, the licenses of 146 drivers involved in fatal and serious accidents have already been suspended.
The CTO said licenses of drivers found responsible for fatal or serious non-fatal accidents will be suspended. In cases involving irresponsible driving, the suspension will remain in effect for at least one year.
Drivers responsible for fatal accidents will also face additional legal action. However, license suspensions in fatal accident cases will remain subject to court orders.
Shirazi said irresponsible driving would not be tolerated and that traffic violations would be dealt with under a zero-tolerance policy.
He added that protecting citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority of Lahore Traffic Police, with strict legal measures to continue in an effort to reduce accidents and make roads safer.
