Punjab Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Salma Butt on Sunday directed authorities to start advance monitoring of the supply, demand, stocks and prices of essential commodities from October, ahead of Ramazan.
She issued the directive while chairing a performance review meeting of the PERA Force and price control magistrates at the Deputy Commissioner Office.
Butt ordered an increase in cold storage capacity to ensure adequate stocks of apples, dates, gram, bananas and other essential items. The meeting reviewed price control measures, enforcement operations and the district’s supply situation.
The district food controller briefed participants on wheat and flour stocks and the operation of flour mills.
Butt said a digital application has been introduced for price control. She directed officials to upload inspection and enforcement records to the system without delay, and ordered strict implementation of officially notified price lists.
