The Balochistan government has announced austerity and fuel conservation measures, including a 50 percent reduction in fuel for official vehicles for three months, a ban on buying government vehicles and a bar on foreign trips.
According to an official notification, the measures come into effect immediately. The notification also bans official dinners, seminars and conferences.
Government expenditure, excluding salaries and pensions, will be cut by 5 percent. The government has directed that a one-dish policy be enforced at wedding events.
Under revised business hours, markets and shopping malls will close at 9 pm, marriage halls at 10 pm and restaurants at 11 pm. Pharmacies, hospitals, petrol pumps and dairy shops are exempt from the restrictions.
