The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) staged a strong recovery on Tuesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 2,592.79 points, or 1.56%, as easing international oil prices improved investor sentiment.
According to the PSX website, the index opened strongly and gained more than 800 points in early trading. After falling to an intraday low of 165,651.67, renewed buying pushed the index to a high of 168,626.18 before it closed at 168,460.10.
Buying interest was visible across major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration companies, oil marketing companies, power generation and refineries.
The recovery came a day after the KSE-100 plunged 2,288.17 points, or 1.36%, amid regional and domestic political uncertainty and elevated crude oil prices.
International oil prices also eased as crude flows from the Middle East increased and the Group of Seven pledged to boost supplies. Brent crude settled down 1.89% at $100.32 per barrel, while WTI fell 1.84% to $89.43.
The decline in oil prices and improved regional crude flows helped ease some pressure on Pakistan equities, supporting renewed buying across key sectors.
