Ubisoft is sending off Assassin’s Creed (AC) Shadows with a massive final content drop. Update 1.1.11 officially arrives today, June 16. Consequently, it signals an exciting month for action-adventure fans, especially with Black Flag Resynced right around the corner.
Previously, AC Shadows received impactful patches. Developers overhauled the parkour system. Furthermore, they added new quests, rewards, and the massive Awaji Island expansion. Now, this bittersweet final update concludes the post-launch journey. Here is exactly what players can expect.
Dive Into the “Domains” Endgame Mode
Ubisoft introduces a brand-new endgame activity called Domains. This mode delivers an “Animus-bending” experience with high replayability. Specifically, it features five remixed maps from the base game. Furthermore, players can test their builds across 10 distinct difficulty settings.

Higher difficulties introduce more modifiers. First, players load into a map and hunt down enemies called Daishos. Next, eliminating them unlocks the final boss arena. Here, you must defeat one of three Animus-corrupted characters.
However, you will not fight alone. An NPC named MOD assists you. MOD hacks the system and provides “Animus Exploits”. Additionally, this character delivers vital context and lore. Moreover, Domains features a standalone progression system. Players earn a unique in-game currency to spend at a dedicated merchant. You can purchase exclusive armor sets, special weapons, and even “game-breaking” engravings.
The Final AC Shadows Story Chapter: Black Tides
Update 1.1.11 also delivers the final free story chapter. Ubisoft titles this quest Black Tides. Ultimately, it represents the definitive conclusion to Naoe and Yasuke’s journey.
During this chapter, the duo confronts two high-ranking Templars. These enemies belong to the Black Cross. The Templars travel to Japan specifically to hunt the protagonists. However, the game hints that they harbor ulterior motives. Additionally, the launch trailer teases a potential appearance by Assassin’s Creed Odyssey protagonist, Kassandra.
How to Access the True Ending
Players cannot simply jump into this final mission. You must complete specific prerequisites first. Naturally, you must finish the main campaign. Furthermore, you must complete previously released DLC story drops. This requirement includes A Critical Encounter, the story collaboration featuring voice actor Robbie Daymond.
Fortunately, you do not need to buy everything. The developers confirmed that players do not need the Claws of Awaji expansion to experience this “true” ending.
