Apple is expected to introduce its first foldable iPhone, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra, at its September 9 event. Ahead of the expected launch, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared new details about the device’s features and possible pricing.
Gurman said the upcoming iPhone Ultra will likely support MagSafe charging. Earlier leaked renders and dummy units did not show Apple’s familiar magnetic ring, raising questions about whether the feature would return on the foldable model.
However, Gurman believes Apple can include MagSafe in the device. He pointed to the slim iPhone Air, which already accommodates the technology. The iPhone Ultra is rumored to measure just 4.5mm thick when unfolded.
The foldable iPhone could feature a 5.5-inch cover display and a larger 7.8-inch flexible inner screen. Reports also suggest its display crease may be slightly less noticeable than the one on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8.
Apple is also rumored to equip the iPhone Ultra with a dual-rear camera system. The device could use Apple’s latest chipset and modem, alongside a durable hinge designed for repeated folding.
If these details prove accurate, the iPhone Ultra would mark Apple’s biggest iPhone design change in years. The September 9 event could finally reveal how Apple plans to compete in the growing foldable smartphone market.
