Apple has rolled out a small iOS update, version 26.5.1, focused entirely on bug fixes rather than new features. The update is minor in size, but it addresses a problem that could be serious for affected users.
According to Apple’s official changelog, the update fixes a specific issue where wired charging could fail on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models. This problem appears when the battery is almost fully drained. In such cases, charging may not start as expected.
This timing makes the fix important. Users usually plug in their phones when the battery is very low. Apple says only a small number of users experienced this bug. However, the company still pushed the fix quickly to avoid further issues.
Meanwhile, Apple has also released macOS 26.5.1. This update resolves a separate issue affecting enterprise users. On Macs with the M5 chip, devices could unexpectedly shut down. This happened when certain content filtering network extensions were in use.
Although the problem mainly impacted enterprise environments, it could disrupt workflow in managed systems. Apple has now addressed it through this update.
Looking ahead, Apple is preparing for its next major software cycle. On June 8, the company will announce iOS 27 and macOS 27 during its upcoming event. These versions are expected to launch in the fall, most likely in September.
