Apple could launch a new 24-inch iMac with a faster chip and new color options later this year. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared the details in his latest Power On newsletter. According to Gurman, the new iMac will likely keep the current 24-inch design. The biggest change could be Apple’s move from the M4 chip to the newer M6 chip.
Apple introduced the current 24-inch iMac with the M4 chip in October 2024. The company may now refresh the desktop with the M6 as it updates its Mac lineup.
New colors could also arrive with the updated model. Gurman did not reveal which colors Apple plans to offer. The current iMac is available in seven colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver.
Beyond the chip and colors, Apple does not appear to have major design changes planned. The company is also working on a 24-inch iMac with an OLED display. However, that model is still several years away.
Gurman says the M6 iMac models appear to be close to launch. Apple is expected to introduce the updated 24-inch iMac before the end of the year.
