Assassin’s Creed (AC) Black Flag Resynced sold 2 million copies in its first 24 hours. The open-world pirate adventure launched internationally last week on July 9. The 2013 original holds a stellar reputation. Consequently, this remake faced massive expectations from fans and reviewers alike. It clearly delivered.
Ubisoft Breaks Its Silence on Sales
On July 10, the official Assassin’s Creed account on X confirmed the massive milestone. They publicly thanked fans for stepping aboard the Jackdaw.

Interestingly, this announcement highlights a major PR shift. Historically, Ubisoft avoids sharing direct sales numbers. Instead, the company favors less direct metrics. They usually report global player counts or average playtime. They even used that vague approach for their most successful recent releases. Therefore, disclosing a plain 2 million unit figure underlines the sheer significance of this launch.
Chart-Topping Global Performance
The 2 million figure represents combined sales across the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Ubisoft did not provide an exact platform breakdown. However, the game dominates digital storefronts globally.
As of yesterday, July 12, Black Flag Resynced topped the PlayStation and Xbox sales charts in major markets. This includes both the United States and the United Kingdom. Furthermore, the game ranked first on Steam’s Top Sellers list, not counting the Steam Machine. Ultimately, these chart positions suggest the sales spread evenly across each platform’s install base.
AC Black Flag Resynced Chasing Franchise History
This day-one milestone stands as one of the largest publicly disclosed debuts in the 19-year history of the series. Specifically, Resynced already exceeded the entire first-week sales of Assassin’s Creed 2, which moved 1.6 million units. Additionally, its 24-hour run accounts for more than half of Assassin’s Creed 3’s 3.5 million first-week sales.
Despite this explosive launch, the remake still has a long journey ahead. To officially crack the franchise’s top 10 lifetime sales list, Black Flag Resynced will need to sell 8 million copies.
