BYD Shark 6 PHEV Set to Launch in Pakistan on July 25

Earlier this month, Techjuice reported that BYD Pakistan would introduce the BYD Shark 6 PHEV by July 2025. Now, it’s official; sources confirm the BYD Shark 6 PHEV will launch in Pakistan on July 25, 2025. BYD, the world’s leading plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) brand, has officially introduced its game-changing Super DM PHEV technology in Pakistan, using the BYD Shark 6 as the showcase model. Bookings for the Shark 6 PHEV will start on July 25, with deliveries scheduled to begin in September 2025.

The Shark 6 will enter a market dominated by fuel-based models like the Toyota Hilux Revo, ISUZU D-Max, and JAC T9 Hunter. At a recent workshop in Karachi, BYD unveiled its Dual Mode (DM) hybrid platform, which prioritizes electric drive and uses the petrol engine only as a backup for extended range. This technology, under development for over 20 years, includes the high-efficiency Xiaoyun 1.5L engine and BYD’s Blade Battery, known for its safety, long life, and thermal stability.

At a recent experiential workshop in Karachi, BYD Pakistan – Mega Motor Company became the first auto player to initiate this conversation, inviting automotive experts, media representatives, and industry stakeholders to share their Super DM Plug-in Hybrid Technology platform, using the BYD Shark 6 PHEV pickup as the showcase vehicle.

The event marked the formal introduction of BYD’s proprietary Dual Mode (DM) Super Hybrid platform to the local market. Rather than simply combining electric and petrol power like a traditional hybrid, this system prioritizes electric drive and uses the engine as an efficient range extender. In effect, the vehicle behaves more like an EV, while maintaining the backup assurance of fuel for longer journeys.

The BYD Shark 6 PHEV stands out as Pakistan’s first-ever plug-in hybrid pickup truck, delivering 436 horsepower, 650 Nm of torque, and a combined range of 800 kilometers. It offers fuel efficiency of up to 50 km per liter, thanks to its 29.58 kWh battery. Designed for both urban and off-road use, it features multiple terrain modes, including Mud, Snow, and Sand.

The truck can reduce tailpipe CO₂ emissions by 62%, making it ideal for polluted cities like Karachi and Lahore. More than just a vehicle, BYD’s entry marks a shift toward cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable mobility solutions in Pakistan.

With the launch of the Shark 6, BYD aims to push Pakistan’s automotive industry towards electrification. The new PHEV represents a significant step toward reducing emissions in the country’s growing pickup truck market. The Shark 6 is not just a product launch but a mindset shift, offering a sustainable alternative as Pakistan moves toward cleaner mobility. The company’s investment in local production further cements its long-term commitment to transforming the country’s auto landscape.
