Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has launched a major recruitment drive at its manufacturing operations in Xi’an, seeking more than 8,000 workers as production increases following factory upgrades.
Several local agencies, including the Xi’an Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, have published recruitment notices for BYD’s production facilities. The company is offering signing bonuses of up to 6,000 yuan ($889), while salaries for some positions can reach 10,000 yuan per month.
The vacancies include general factory workers as well as skilled employees for welding, painting and final assembly. BYD’s four production sites in Xi’an have resumed normal operations after undergoing upgrades, including a transition to the company’s second-generation Blade Battery technology.
Production at the facilities had been constrained during the first half of 2026, with some workers transferred to other expanding plants. The latest hiring drive comes as BYD faces rising export demand.
The company sold a record 440,293 new energy vehicles in August, including 189,466 units overseas. The recruitment drive is intended to support the company’s production ramp-up as manufacturing operations expand.
