Today, on July 2, 2026, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issued a critical alert from Islamabad. Specifically, the regulatory body is upgrading the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS). Therefore, citizens must prepare for a temporary DIRBS portal disruption this weekend.
First and foremost, the PTA wants to better serve both the general public and commercial entities. Consequently, the authority is rolling out an upgraded, in-house developed system. This new technical development will directly simplify the device registration process for all users across the country.
Due to this scheduled upgrade, users will face a temporary service suspension. The official DIRBS portal and all related services will be completely unavailable for a few days. The downtime begins tomorrow, July 3, 2026, at exactly 5:00 PM. Subsequently, the system will remain offline throughout the entire weekend. Finally, the portal will come back online, and services will resume on July 6, 2026, at 4:00 AM.
Meanwhile, the PTA appreciates the cooperation and understanding of everyone involved. This specifically includes all end users and commercial entities. The authority considers this system upgradation period absolutely essential. Thus, you should complete any pending device registrations immediately to avoid getting locked out during the downtime.
