The Establishment Division has sent a summary to the Prime Minister’s Office seeking approval to take action against government officers who have not submitted declarations regarding their dual nationality, sources said.
The summary proposes proceedings against officers in Grades 20, 21 and 22.
Show-cause notices will be issued to the officers concerned once the Prime Minister approves the request. Those found guilty of misconduct may face withholding of promotion, compulsory retirement or dismissal from service.
Of the 2,917 government officers, 62.5 percent have not submitted the required declarations. Among those who have submitted them, only 8.68 percent have disclosed holding foreign nationality.
The officers who have not submitted declarations belong to the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), Secretariat Group and Office Management Group (OMG).
