The government has announced special arrangements for the collection of government duties and taxes on Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24, 2026, to facilitate taxpayers making over-the-counter payments.
According to an official notification issued on the request of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Saturday-opening branches of all commercial banks, including National Bank of Pakistan branches handling customs collections, will remain open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on both days.
Banks have also been directed to keep relevant branches open on May 24 for extended hours as required to support the special clearing of government transactions conducted by NIFT.
In addition, financial institutions have been instructed to ensure uninterrupted availability of digital banking services, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other online payment channels, to facilitate smooth tax payments.
Officials said the move is aimed at improving tax collection efficiency and providing greater convenience to taxpayers during peak payment periods.
