The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has officially published the long-awaited National Skills Competency Test (NSCT) 2026 results. This milestone assessment establishes a vital benchmark for Pakistan’s evolving IT sector. Consequently, the test evaluates students directly against modern industry standards.
The government conducted the computer-based assessment on April 4-5, 2026. The nationwide test successfully assessed over 33,000 students enrolled in the 7th and 8th semesters of various computing programs. Furthermore, the authorities organized the testing across 165 centers spanning 112 cities. These extensive results provide deep insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the current IT talent pool.
HEC NSCT 2026 Results: Key Proficiency Findings
The HEC released detailed statistics regarding specific competency domains. First, students displayed the highest proficiency in Web Development Basics, securing a 54.1% pass rate. AI & Machine Learning followed closely at 50.8%. Similarly, Software Engineering achieved a 50.1% proficiency rate.
Conversely, several foundational subjects require immediate improvement. Operating Systems ranked the lowest, sitting at a mere 33.8%. Additionally, Computer Networks & Cloud Computing reached only 39.6%, while Data Structures & Algorithms stood at 40.2%. These figures clearly indicate a significant skills gap in core computing principles nationwide.
