The Punjab government has announced new timings for public and private schools across the province, with the revised schedule taking effect from August 24.
According to a notification issued by the School Education Department, the new timings for public schools will remain in effect from August 24 to October 15, 2026.
Single-shift schools will remain open from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday.
On Friday, teaching hours at single-shift schools will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
For double-shift schools, the morning shift will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, while Friday timings will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The evening shift will operate from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, the evening shift will run from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The School Education Department has directed chief executive officers of district education authorities across Punjab to ensure implementation of the revised school timings.
The notification also allows a 15-minute adjustment in the timings of girls’ schools at the district level, depending on local requirements.
The revised schedule will apply to schools across Punjab beginning August 24, with public-school timings remaining in place until October 15, 2026.
