Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says she wants to lead the world’s largest social network, Facebook.
As reported by CNET, the statement came when Attorney General Maura Healey, a Democrat from Massachusetts asked Hillary which company she wants to become a CEO of, Hillary answered quickly “Facebook”. Clinton stated “It’s the biggest news platform in the world. Most people in our country get their news — true or not from Facebook.”
On 25th May, the former US presidential candidate was present at Harvard to receive the Redcliffe Medal which is awarded to people who have “a transformative impact on society”. On the occasion, she admired the efforts of Facebook to tackle and deal the recent controversies related to security and privacy issues. Clinton said, “It really is critical to our democracy that people get accurate information on which to make decisions.”

Facebook is trying to win back the trust of people after a series of controversies including Cambridge Analytica scandal in which data of 87 million Facebook users were compromised. To provide Facebook users more transparency and privacy, Facebook recently has deleted 583 million fake accounts in the first quarter of 2018 and at least 200 apps have also been suspended from Facebook amidst a data privacy scandal.
Earlier in April, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook messenger scans the photos and links people send to each other. However, in an effort to prevent foreign interference into elections, Facebook said that only politically verified ads will run ahead of general elections in countries like Us, Pakistan, India and other countries. Advertisers who want to run their ads sharing political content also need to verify their identity and location.
