Honor 10 officially launched worldwide with a notched display, dual cameras, and a competitive price tag

The Honor 10 is Honor’s latest flagship phone. In terms of design, it looks similar to the Huawei P20 series, but some of its specifications are different. The smartphone comes with the same shiny color gradient design which has already earned the interests of the smartphone experts and critics from around the globe.

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor’s latest flagship, Honor 10, features a 3D glass back with a nano-scale optical coating. The glass design is made of 15 layers of 3D glass on the back, which leads to the reflective colors. The design named as the “Aurora Glass”. The Honor 10 has an industry first ultrasonic fingerprint sensor located under the glass, which allows users to use the sensor even when their fingers are wet. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the front of the device.

Display

Honor 10 features a 5.84-inch Full HD+ (2280×1080) notched IPS LCD with a 19:9 aspect ratio display and a 86 percent screen-to-body ratio. The display has 2.5D glass. The Honor 10’s notch contains the earpiece, sensors, and the front-facing camera.

Performance

 

The smartphone is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 970 system-on-chip. It has four ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The GPU is the Mali-G72MP12, and the SoC also has a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU).

The smartphone comes with 6GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of storage. However, there is no microSD card slot on the device.

Dual Cameras

The smartphone has an “AI Camera”-branded dual camera setup. However, the camera module doesn’t have Leica branding. The phone has a 16MP RGB camera with a f/1.8 aperture, PDAF and LED flash and a 24MP monochrome camera with f/1.8 aperture. The camera features a “high quality” electronic image stabilization (EIS) for better pictures and videos. The AI Camera can recognize 500+ scenarios in 22 categories in real-time.
The smartphone features a 24MP front-facing camera with a f/2.0 aperture. The camera also supports 3D face recognition, optimizes facial details and detects over 100 facial points to ensure “pixel-level accuracy”. The front camera also has bokeh mode and supports for studio lighting effects in a range of lighting conditions.

Audio, Battery, and Connectivity

The phone has a dedicated AK4376A audio processor to enable it to output 7.1 sound with the 3.5mm headphone jack. Honor 10 has a 3400mAh battery which is the same size as the battery of the standard Huawei P20. It features fast charging support via 5V/4.5A Huawei Super Charge which the company states that will charge 50% of the battery in 25 minutes.

The phone comes with the usual connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C port (USB 2.0), and dual nano SIM slots. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack, unlike the Huawei P20, which is a major plus, but it does not have an IP rating.

Pricing and availability

The Honor 10 comes in Phantom Blue, Phantom Green, Glacier Grey, and Midnight colors. The pricing of this smartphone is that Honor 10 (with 64GB of internal storage) has been made available for 2,599 yuan in China which translates to $414 (Pakistani Rupees 48,000).
The price increases for the 128GB version which can be bought for 2,999 yuan (Pakistani Rupees 55,000). The smartphone is released worldwide in an event in the UK on May 15, 2018.
