Apple has confirmed that the first public beta of iOS 27 will arrive in July. The company has not announced an exact release date yet. However, the update is expected to roll out later this month. It will likely arrive after the third or fourth iOS 27 developer beta.
Apple has followed a similar release schedule in recent years. The iOS 26 public beta launched on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Before that, iOS 18 arrived on Monday, July 15, 2024. Apple released the iOS 17 public beta on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Meanwhile, the iOS 16 public beta became available on Monday, July 11, 2022.
How to Install the iOS 27 Public Beta
Once Apple releases the update, users with a compatible iPhone can install it for free by following these steps:
- Sign up through Apple’s Beta Software Program at beta.apple.com.
- Open Settings and go to General > Software Update > Beta Updates.
- Select iOS 27 Public Beta and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Restart your iPhone if the beta option does not appear.
- Users who do not want to wait can already install the iOS 27 developer beta for free.
Although the public beta is usually more stable than the first developer beta, it may still contain bugs and performance issues. Some apps may not work properly, and CarPlay could also face problems. Therefore, Apple recommends backing up your iPhone before installing the beta. If possible, use a secondary iPhone instead of your primary device.
iPhone Compatibility and New Features
iOS 27 supports the iPhone 11 and newer models. However, Apple Intelligence features, including the new Siri AI experience, are only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer devices.
Apple has also introduced a waitlist for the redesigned Siri. Users can join it by opening the Settings app on iOS 27 and selecting Siri. In some cases, access may take several weeks.
Along with the upgraded Siri, iOS 27 brings more Liquid Glass design improvements, better performance, expanded child safety features, and several other system enhancements.
