According to the latest statistics, the average iPhone users from the US have started spending more on app store purchases.
According to a report from an app-analytics agency SensorTower, Apple has recently witnessed a considerable rise in the revenue generated through the app or in-app purchases done by its users. The US-based iPhone users spent on average $21 more on application purchases than the amount they had spent the previous year. The revenue generated by Apple through these transactions shown an increase of 36%, standing at $79 after rising from $58 in the previous year.
The increase in revenue for the lifestyle category was the highest. An average iPhone user spent a total of $3.9 on lifestyle apps, a value which had risen from $2.1 showing an increase of 86%. The average spending on music, social networking, and entertainment category was $5, $4.4, and $8 respectively. It should be noted here that these spending figures only account for the payments made to the third-party developers and doesn’t include the dollars paid for Apple services like iCloud storage and Apple Music.
Apple started pushing its developers to incline more towards developing subscription-based applications. At the same time, the company started a crack-down against the app developers which were unethically pushing users to buy certain subscriptions. Generally speaking, the Apple store is usually able to generate more revenue as compared to the Google Play store, despite the relatively lesser number of users.
