The Lahore Traffic Police has expanded commercial driving license services for rickshaw drivers by establishing three additional licensing centers across the city.
According to Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi, commercial driving licenses for rickshaw drivers can now be obtained from four locations: Manawan, Ichhra Licensing Center Town, Greater Iqbal Park and Wapda Town.
The newly established centers will operate from Thursday to Sunday, providing greater convenience for applicants who previously had to rely solely on the Manawan licensing center. The expansion is expected to reduce travel time, minimize delays and ease the burden on a single facility.
The CTO said the initiative is designed to make the licensing process more accessible, efficient and citizen-friendly for commercial drivers across Lahore.
As part of broader safety measures, he also announced that QR-code-based panic buttons will be installed in rickshaws after licensing. The feature is intended to enhance passenger safety and improve emergency response capabilities.
