The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has been facing disruptions in its operations after its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system remained offline for seven days, affecting the issuance of essential materials required for new electricity connections.
According to reports, a technical fault has prevented LESCO offices from issuing transformers, electricity meters, poles and other necessary equipment.
The disruption has consequently delayed the processing and installation of new electricity connections, along with other consumer-related services that depend on the availability of these materials.
Reports indicate that LESCO had recently updated its ERP software as part of efforts to modernize and digitize its material management system. However, a technical problem reportedly emerged following the update and has not yet been resolved.
The prolonged outage has also prevented LESCO offices from preparing material release orders, further disrupting the supply of equipment to field operations.
LESCO had introduced the ERP system to make its material issuance process paperless and more efficient. The system was implemented following approval from the company’s Board of Directors and senior management.
The continued technical issue is now affecting consumers seeking new electricity connections, as required equipment cannot be issued through the affected system.
Until the ERP system is fully restored, delays could continue in material allocation and related connection services across LESCO’s operational areas.
LESCO supplies electricity to Lahore and surrounding areas and is one of Pakistan’s major power distribution companies. Its services include electricity distribution, new connections, metering and other consumer-related functions.
