The metering labs of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) have recovered 14.72 million pending electricity units from replaced meters since January 2026.
The recovery operation was supervised by Chief Engineer TS Nisar Sarwar alongside Regional Managers Asghar Sukhera and Mehr Tanveer overseeing the East and West zones respectively.
Data was successfully downloaded from 162,706 single-phase, 23,524 three-phase, and 365 LT MDI meters across all operational zones during this period.
Investigators additionally identified 301 single-phase and 19 three-phase meters found to be tampered with or remotely controlled, raising serious electricity theft concerns.
M&T South recorded the highest recovery with 5.61 million units, followed by M&T Central with 1.54 million units, and M&T Sheikhupura contributing 1.43 million units.
M&T Kasur accounted for 1.02 million recovered units, while M&T North identified 952,091 units and M&T East recovered a further 793,397 pending units.
M&T Okara recorded 439,310 pending units, rounding out contributions from divisional labs including Kot Lakhpat, Chunian, Depalpur, Nankana, Township, and Rural SKP.
CEO Engineer Ramzan Butt stated that modernised data-downloading systems are critical for timely detection of electricity theft and identification of tampered metering equipment.
He confirmed that rigorous data monitoring will continue aggressively across all regions to safeguard the national exchequer from ongoing electricity-related financial losses.
