Meta launched Forum on May 25, 2026, a new standalone app that separates Facebook Groups into its own dedicated platform. It is available now on the Apple App Store.
Forum gives users a space for deeper discussions built around communities they already belong to on Facebook. Users sign in with existing Facebook credentials. This automatically populates the app with their groups. From there, they can join discussions, browse related communities, and ask questions directly to group members.
Content shared on Forum stays visible in the corresponding Facebook group. The app does not replace or remove groups from Facebook. Instead, it surfaces group activity in a cleaner interface designed around conversation rather than the main Facebook feed.
The centerpiece feature is Ask. It aggregates responses to a question from across multiple groups at once. Meta describes it as a way to get real answers from people with direct experience on a topic. Responses use an upvote system, so the most relevant and trusted answers rise to the top. Meta borrowed this mechanic directly from Reddit.
That similarity to Reddit is deliberate. Reddit built its dominance around human, community-vetted answers. Those answers are also why Reddit is one of the most frequently cited sources for AI chatbot responses. By encouraging structured Q&A within Facebook Groups, Meta positions Forum as a direct competitor for that same high-value content.
Meta also faces a data quality challenge. AI assistants rely on social content to generate answers, so the structure and reliability of that content matters. Forum’s upvote system gives Meta a cleaner signal for what its AI tools should reference, mirroring how Reddit surfaces trustworthy responses.
Pakistan has one of the most active Facebook user bases in South Asia. Millions of users participate in local community, business, and interest-based groups. Forum gives Pakistani users a faster way to get answers from those communities, though all they have to give up is their privacy. The sadder news is that the app is not yet available for Pakistani Meta users.
