Pensioners across Pakistan will no longer have to pay for the proof of life certificate required to keep their pension payments active, following a new directive issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
The certificate, officially known as the Life Verification Certificate, confirms that a pensioner is alive and eligible to continue receiving payments. Previously issued for a fee, the document will now be provided free of charge to all eligible retired government employees.
NADRA has also expanded the ways pensioners can complete the verification. Rather than visiting a NADRA office in person, pensioners can now confirm their status remotely through the Pak ID mobile application.
Those who are unable to operate the app on their own may designate a family member to carry out the process instead, provided the required identity checks are met.
To further widen access, the free service has been rolled out across more than 5,000 e-Sahulat franchises, over 988 NADRA centres, and more than 500 union councils nationwide.
NADRA said it would also deploy mobile verification teams to reach elderly, bedridden, and low-mobility pensioners who cannot travel to a service point.
