Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Ultra camera setup has become the subject of conflicting reports. A new leak now claims the flagship will keep its 5x telephoto camera. A report in late August suggested Samsung would switch to a 4x optical zoom camera. That camera was said to use a 1/1.9″ type sensor.
However, another source rejected that claim earlier this week. It said the Galaxy S27 Ultra would retain the 5x optical zoom camera from its predecessor. Now, a well-known source has added to the discussion. According to him, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
The camera will reportedly use a Sony sensor. This latest claim suggests Samsung may not make a major change to the telephoto hardware. The upcoming phone is also expected to feature a 50MP ultrawide camera. That would match the resolution offered by the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
However, the selfie camera could receive a notable upgrade. Quandt claims the Galaxy S27 Ultra will have a 16MP front camera with autofocus. For comparison, the Galaxy S26 Ultra uses a 12MP selfie camera. The higher resolution could give Samsung more room for detailed selfies and video calls.
Other Galaxy S27 Ultra details have also started to surface. The phone is expected to use Samsung’s recently unveiled M16 OLED panel. The chipset could vary by market as well. Some regions are expected to get the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
At the same time, Samsung may use its Exynos 2700 chip in selected markets. More details should emerge as the Galaxy S27 Ultra launch gets closer.
