Android Pie with Oxygen 9.0.0 update finally arrives for OnePlus 5 and 5T which was promised by OnePlus a couple of months ago. It should be noted that this update is a stable update, unlike the previous open beta update which was rolled out to both of these smartphones. The new update brings a new interface which the company initially introduced with OnePlus 6, the update also brings OnePlus’s new navigation gestures, since OnePlus 5T has an 18:9 panel it can easily take advantage of the Google released Android Pie gestures.

The update further brings December 2018’s security patches and other stable improvements, the new update brings:

  • Updated system to Android 9 Pie
  • Brand new UI for Android Pie
  • Brand new navigation gestures (Available for OnePlus 5T only)
  • Updated Android security patch to 2018.12
  • Other new features and system improvements
  • New Gaming mode 3.0
  • Do Not Disturb mode
  • Camera (integrated with Google lens)

The best part about this update is the OnePlus’s nav gestures, which have been widely regarded as the best implementation of navigation gestures and many tech-YouTubers rates these better than Google’s implementation of gestures.

The update is rolling out now and if you are on currently on a OnePlus stable build. keep hitting the check for updates button in the settings as chances are you will get the update sometime later today.
