OnePlus recently released Android Oreo update for OnePlus 3 and 3T, and the Chinese manufacturer is now all set to release Oreo update for OnePlus 5. Along with other expected features like notifications dots, the OnePlus 5 will also get a Face Unlock feature, which has been recently introduced with the launch of OnePlus 5T.

The Android 8.0 Oreo-based beta build is available for developers, while the stable version of the update is coming for all users in the beginning of 2018. OnePlus has also released flashing guide for users, who want to experience Open Beta, however, it is obvious that this unstable version is expected to have bugs in it.

Oreo update in Oneplus 5 will bring features like Picture-in-Picture, Auto-fill, Smart text selection, and a new Quick Settings design. The update will also bring October Android security patch. OnePlus specific additions include Parallel Apps, Notification Dots for the OnePlus launcher, a new app folder design, and the ability to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus.

The OxygenOS 5.0 update in OnePlus 5 will also enable the phone to feature Face Unlock feature using front camera sensors of the device. The feature is already launched in OnePlus 5T, however, it runs on android Nougat 7.1.1. It will be great to experience this new feature in the older model too. You can visit detailed changelog for Android Oreo in OnePlus 5 on the company’s forum.
