The OnePlus 7 is one of the most anticipated phones of 2019 and the latest round of rumors have made the wait more difficult. For starters, the OnePlus 7 will come in 2 variants, the regular OnePlus 7 and the more expensive OnePlus 7 Pro.
A brand new 90Hz display
Talking with the The Verge about the upcoming OnePlus phones, OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, said, “The first time I saw it myself, I was stunned.” He said that OnePlus has tripled its budget for the display and expects it to show. He said that their new flagships will “redefine fast and smooth.”
As per the latest rumors the OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to pack a faster 90Hz display compared. While it might not be as smooth the 120Hz Pro Motion panels found on the iPad Pros, it is still faster than the traditional 60Hz panels. Expects smoother animation, games and a more responsive UI.
With faster displays battery life is negatively affected. So, the phone might support variable refresh rates to save battery life. The idea is to tone down the refresh rate when watching a 30fps video or static images and boost it places like games.
A triple camera setup with 3x zoom and an ultrawide camera
While the standard OnePlus 7 is expected to house 2 cameras, the Pro model will have 3 cameras at the back. The primary camera is going to be a 48MP sensor with an aperture of f/1.8. The ultrawide camera will have a 16MP sensor behind a f/2.2 lens for 117 degrees of field of view. Finally, the third camera is going to be a telephoto camera with an 8MP sensor behind a f/2.4 lens. It should be able to produce 3x zoom and will be exclusive to the Pro model.
The OnePlus 7 will be announced on May 22. True to its pedigree, it will house the latest Snapdragon 855 chipset along with up to 8GB of RAM. It will also feature a pop out selfie camera and stereo speakers. Finally, continuing the trend of its predecessors, the new OnePlus 7 will see a price hike while the OnePlus 7 Pro will be priced to go toe to toe with the pantheons of the flagship category.
