A fresh leak has revealed new details about Oppo’s next camera upgrade. The company may introduce a new square-shaped front camera sensor in an upcoming smartphone. Earlier in February, a report claimed that Oppo and Huawei were exploring square camera sensors. The design looked similar to the one Apple introduced with the iPhone 17 series. Now, another leak has added more information about Oppo’s plans.
According to the source, an Android smartphone brand is testing a 1:1 square sensor for selfies. Although the post did not mention the company by name, the emoji strongly points toward Oppo.
The leak also claims that the company is testing a 100MP front camera sensor. In comparison, Apple uses an 18MP 1:1 square sensor in the iPhone 17 lineup. Apple’s setup lets users capture selfies in both portrait and landscape modes without rotating the phone.
The source further suggested that Oppo’s solution could offer more advanced features than Apple’s current system. However, the leak did not reveal any extra details about image quality or software improvements.
For now, Oppo has not confirmed anything officially. Still, reports suggest the company may introduce this camera technology with the upcoming Find X10 series. The flagship lineup is expected to launch in October.
