The government has officially approved a uniform online system to issue international driving permits across the country. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced this major digital shift on Tuesday. He shared these details while chairing a crucial meeting at the National Police Bureau (NPB). Consequently, this new system will make the service fully digital. It specifically aims to help citizens who plan to travel abroad.
Previously, applicants faced unnecessary hurdles. Now, the government will introduce a uniform process for these international driving permits. Furthermore, this digital move will significantly reduce processing delays. It will also simplify the overall procedures for all applicants.
Additionally, the government is digitizing other essential legal services alongside the permits. Naqvi confirmed that the National Police Bureau will handle police clearance certificates through its dedicated online portal. Therefore, citizens can easily apply for these certificates directly from their homes. They no longer need to visit physical offices to complete their paperwork.
Making the NPB an active and dynamic institution remains a top priority for the government. During his Tuesday visit, the Interior Minister personally inspected the ongoing renovation work at the NPB building. Moreover, officials briefed him thoroughly on the latest digital initiatives and ongoing institutional reforms.
Earlier, the meeting began on a respectful note. Attendees paid tribute to the brave police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty to mark Youm-i-Police Shuhada.
