Pakistan’s automobile industry recorded total sales of 15,558 units in August 2026, marking an 11% year-on-year increase. However, sales declined 21% month-on-month, according to data compiled by Intermarket Securities.
Car sales reached 13,717 units during the month, up 36% compared with August 2025, while sales declined 20% from the previous month. Cumulative car sales during the first two months of FY2026-27 stood at 30,933 units, showing an 80% year-on-year increase.
The data showed that LCVs and pickups recorded sales of 1,841 units in August, down 4% year-on-year and 29% month-on-month. Their cumulative sales stood at 4,443 units during 2MFY27, down 44% year-on-year.
Tractor sales reached 1,052 units, increasing 6% year-on-year but declining 15% month-on-month. Millat Tractors sold 809 units, while Al-Ghazi Tractors recorded sales of 243 units.
The two-wheeler segment remained the largest contributor, with 178,119 units sold in August, up 20% year-on-year and 3% month-on-month. Atlas Honda accounted for 153,236 units, while Suzuki Motorcycle sold 4,999 units.
Truck sales stood at 802 units, rising 35% year-on-year but falling 6% month-on-month. Hino, Master, Isuzu, and JAC recorded sales of 37, 153, 496, and 116 units, respectively.
Bus sales increased 4% year-on-year to 73 units, while monthly sales rose 12%.
Among major automakers, Honda City and Civic sales reached 2,553 units, showing a significant 265% year-on-year increase. Honda BR-V and HR-V sales stood at 80 units.
Indus Motor Company sold 4,029 units, up 19% year-on-year, while Corolla, Yaris and Cross sales reached 3,079 units.
Hyundai recorded sales of 742 units, down 39% year-on-year, although monthly sales increased 5%.
Meanwhile, PSMC reported sales of 7,522 units, up 5% year-on-year, while Ghandhara Industries (GHNI) recorded 540 units, reflecting a 53% annual increase.
Overall, the August figures indicate continued year-on-year recovery in Pakistan’s auto market, although monthly sales remained under pressure across several vehicle segments.
