Pakistanis can now get documents attested online through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) without visiting its main office or liaison offices, following the launch of a digital attestation system on October 12.
The service covers both general and Apostille attestation, allowing applicants to submit documents through a designated online portal and receive electronic certificates by email after completing the process and paying the required fee.
According to a ministry circular issued on October 14, the facility is available at the ministry’s Islamabad office and its liaison offices in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Gujrat.
The new system follows a model similar to the Higher Education Commission’s electronic attestation service and aims to improve convenience, transparency, and efficiency for applicants seeking document verification for foreign travel, education, and other purposes.
However, applicants may still be required to appear in person in exceptional cases, depending on the nature of their applications.
MOFA has directed its officers to encourage applicants to use the digital facility for both general and Apostille attestation, reducing the need for physical visits and streamlining the document verification process.
