Pakistan’s most visited websites tell a story that few would predict. The latest traffic data reveals a digital landscape in rapid transformation, where familiar platforms are losing ground to unexpected newcomers. Some of the biggest gainers grew by over 800% in a single year. While some of the names in the top 20 will surprise you. Others will raise uncomfortable questions about what Pakistanis actually do online versus what regulators claim to care about.
AI platforms are reshaping Pakistan’s internet landscape at a speed few predicted. ChatGPT now ranks as the country’s third most visited website with 65.36 million monthly visits. This figure places it ahead of Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok combined in desktop traffic share.
Claude.ai entered the top 10 with 15.13 million visits and a staggering 839% year-over-year growth rate. Google’s AI tools at labs.google also cracked the top 20 at 8.94 million visits with 2,613% annual growth. Meanwhile, Facebook’s decline offers sharp contrast. The platform dropped 17.87% year-over-year to 55.92 million visits and fell behind ChatGPT in Semrush’s overall rankings. Instagram declined 5.28% to 39.98 million. TikTok slipped 11.74% month-over-month despite growing 9.17% annually.
TechJuice also covered the details of social media platforms, which you can read here.
Cricket drove the most dramatic movement in July’s organic rankings. Cricinfo.com surged 853 positions to fourth place nationally with 20.7 million organic search visits. Cricbuzz climbed to seventh. Spotify jumped 29 positions with 3 million additional visits, likely reflecting growing music streaming adoption.
But the rankings also expose an uncomfortable reality. Adult websites occupy multiple positions in Pakistan’s top 20, with one platform claiming over 16 million monthly visits and another exceeding 12 million. A third site pulled 13.55 million visits. These platforms draw overwhelmingly mobile traffic, with some exceeding 94% mobile usage. That pattern suggests access predominantly through personal devices, bypassing household-level content filters and parental controls.
In a country where internet regulation is frequently cited as justification for restricting social media and political speech, the presence of explicit content platforms ranking higher than LinkedIn, Reddit, and X raises serious questions about enforcement priorities. Pakistan’s regulatory apparatus has banned TikTok multiple times over “morality concerns,” yet rampant use of VPNs to access adult platforms operate largely unchecked and continue climbing the rankings. That too despite the government’s efforts to streamline them.
The regional picture puts Pakistan’s traffic in perspective. India’s Google alone draws 5.33 billion monthly visits compared to Pakistan’s 586 million. India’s YouTube generates 2.84 billion visits versus Pakistan’s 285 million. Bangladesh’s Google traffic reaches 794 million, actually surpassing Pakistan despite having a smaller population. This gap reinforces the data velocity argument that tech companies use when selecting test markets.
Globally, Google leads at 98.19 billion monthly visits. YouTube follows at 52.22 billion. Facebook holds third worldwide at 9.1 billion. ChatGPT’s rise is not unique to Pakistan. The platform ranks fifth globally, confirming that AI adoption is a worldwide phenomenon rather than a regional anomaly.
However, Pakistan’s AI adoption rate outpaces the regional average. ChatGPT’s 59.6% year-over-year growth in Pakistan exceeds the global average, while Claude.ai’s 839% surge positions Pakistan among the fastest-growing markets for AI tool usage. India shows similar patterns, with ChatGPT ranking fourth there at approximately 498 million visits.
Among Pakistani platforms, PriceOye.pk leads local e-commerce search traffic at 10.6 million organic visits. Daraz.pk follows at 6.4 million. BISP’s government portal maintains 5.2 million visits, reflecting the scale of social protection program queries. Sapphire Online surged with 477,000 additional organic visits, indicating growing fashion e-commerce.
Google remains Pakistan’s most visited website overall at 586.21 million monthly visits. YouTube holds second at 285.24 million. The direction is clear. AI tools are climbing faster than any other category while traditional social platforms stagnate or decline. Whether Pakistan’s regulators will address the contradictions in their enforcement priorities remains an open question that the data now makes impossible to ignore.
