Pakistan Shoots Down 12 Indian Drones Amid Rising Tensions

Pakistan’s military has successfully intercepted and destroyed a total of 25 Indian drones in recent days.

Drone Interceptions Across Multiple Sectors

The Pakistan Army reported shooting down Indian drones in various regions, including the Walton area in Lahore and Diwalian in Chakwal. The drones were also downed in sectors such as Sialkot, Barnala, Shakargarh, and Kotli.

Additionally, drones were downed near Gujranwala Cantt and Pir Jhanda in District Gujrat. These actions were taken using advanced electronic warfare capabilities to safeguard Pakistani airspace.

At least two drones were struck down in Rawalpindi.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif’s Statement on Drone Violations

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stated that Pakistani forces had shot down a total of 25 Indian drones in another violation of Pakistan’s airspace. He added that these drones attempted to infiltrate multiple regions, including Lahore, Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Attock, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Karachi.

One of the drones partially engaged a military target in Lahore, injuring four Pakistan Army officials. Some minor damage to military equipment was also reported. Lt Gen Sharif emphasized that the Pakistani armed forces remain fully alert, adding that any further violations of airspace are a serious matter.

Retaliation to Indian Airstrikes

The drone interceptions follow a series of Indian missile strikes on Pakistani territory, which Pakistan claims resulted in 31 civilian casualties and 46 injuries.

In response, Pakistan asserts that it downed five Indian fighter jets and a drone, actions that have been met with condemnation from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), labeling India’s strikes as an “act of war.”

The United Nations and other international bodies have expressed concern over the escalating conflict. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has offered to mediate between the two nations to de-escalate tensions.
