3 Pakistani startups have been nominated for the Shell LiveWIRE Top 10 Innovators from all over the world
Pakistani startups are making a global buzz.
Three startups from Pakistan have been nominated for the Top 10 Innovators Award Programme by Shell LiveWire. The startups include SheKab, an online carpooling service specifically for women; Sehat Kahani, a telemedicine platform that links female doctors with patients living in underprivileged areas; and WonderTree, an Augmented Reality-based education tool for children with special needs.
Shell LiveWire is a flagship entrepreneurship development program started by the world renowned oil and gas company Shell. It was started with Shell’s vision to help local entrepreneurs set up long-lasting businesses that can create jobs and contribute to the economy. 2017 marks LiveWIRE’s 35th anniversary.
The Top 10 Innovators Award Programme was started with the goal to accelerate entrepreneurial innovation in LiveWIRE alumni. The main eligibility criteria to be nominated for the Award is to have a business that has growth potential and has been up and running between 1 to 5 years.
22 startups from all over the world including Saudi Arabia, Italy, Brunei, and the UK, are nominated for the Top 10 Innovators Awards and the voting process is underway.
The startups nominated from Pakistan have been doing quite well for themselves. SheKab recently got selected for Norway’s Katapult Accelerator. Sehat Kahani has been regularly conducting medical awareness seminars and training sessions in the country and the startup was also shortlisted for the regional stage of the She Loves Tech program. WonderTree is steadily working towards bringing their solution to a large number of children. Its co-founder Muhammad Usman was featured in the TechJuice 25 under 25 Class of 2017.
