Lahore based tech accelerator, PlanX has recently announced to hold the Startup Demo Day for local startups and students. The event is scheduled to take place at Lahore’s very own IT hub, Arfa Software Technology Park on 10th of November, 2015 from 11am to 6pm in the evening.
The event will showcase the emerging entrepreneurial ecosystem by featuring startups from various industries and encourage students to present their work. Newly born startups and innovators will get a chance to interact with honored guests and industry representatives along with a startup pitch session in giving them an opportunity to pitch in front of the audience.
Additionally, students can attend and exhibit their products and ideas. Students who want to display their final year projects can take special advantage of this opportunity. The event is open to all which means that the startup can be related to any industry in addition to ICT. Each startup will be provided a table and two chairs on a total space of 4ftx5ft to set up their stalls.
The PlanX Demo Day is an excellent platform for marketing and networking for entrepreneurs on a national level. It comprises of an all-day startup expo, networking and speaker sessions. Elaborating the details of the sessions, Meher Farrukh, business and policy strategist of PlanX, said:
“We will be arranging informative sessions, three speaker sessions and a panel discussion, all of which will revolve around the evolving tech ecosystem and the growth strategies employed by startups”.
The PlanX Demo Day was held for the first time in March, earlier this year. It received a huge response as 100 startups got registered for it and sessions by the likes of Dave McClure and Rahul Sood were organized. This year, however, it’s carrying on with the tradition with a local flavor:
“Management is still under the process of deciding the speakers but so far, Umair Jaliawala, Khalid Bajwa, Talal Burney, Faizan Aslam, Ahmed Razzaq and Omer Khan are finalized,” commented Meher Farrukh, when asked about the speakers for the event by TechJuice.
Another change this year for the event is that PlanX has its prime focus on promoting and acknowledging local startups, instead of bringing people in from the international tech ecosystem. They are already getting a huge response;
“PlanX is receiving an overwhelming response. We are expecting around 100 startups and over a 1000 guests this time around. Its going to be an even bigger gathering than last time. We have invited guests from across academia, banking, tech industry, MNCs and SMEs. Following the extremely engaging and viral marketing campaigns of Patari and Travly, PlanX will be inviting them to share their marketing strategies,” Meher informed.
Startups who wish to participate in the event can register here. To register as a guest and experience the event yourself, register here. The registration for the event is free of cost.
Please note that the deadline for applying is 7th November, 2015.
Meher revealed to TechJuice its efforts in bringing investment opportunities for its startups. An Investors Summit will be held in this regard on the 11th of November.
“This will be a highly exclusive event for Plan9 and PlanX startups where a number of high profile investors will be in attendance. The PlanX Investors Meetup will bring together angel investors, entrepreneurs, bankers, representatives of MNCs and SMEs, and several other stakeholders from the local entrepreneurial ecosystem”
