National Tariff Commission (NTC) and Pakistan Single Window (PSW) have signed a landmark agreement to automate tariff processes and enable real-time data sharing between both institutions. The ceremony was held in Islamabad on 15 June 2026, with senior officials from commerce, customs, and trade administration in attendance at the formal signing event.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Jawwad Uwais Agha, Chairman of the National Tariff Commission, and Syed Aftab Haider, Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Single Window, at a dedicated ceremony. Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan attended the event and praised the commission’s ongoing transformation into a more credible and responsive institution.
The minister emphasised that digitalisation was a critical driver of the commission’s broader reform agenda, stressing the need for alignment with global best practices. Dr. Muhammad Saeed, Technical Advisor to the Prime Minister, also attended alongside Mr. Jawad Paul, Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, and senior officials from both organisations.
The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in data sharing, process automation, tariff and trade policy analysis, and reduction of dwell-time for trade remedial actions. These actions include anti-dumping duties, countervailing duties, and safeguard measures under the commission’s existing mandate for trade defence and tariff rationalisation.
Chairman NTC Agha described the signing as a step towards institutional evolution, stating it would reduce case dwell-times and sharpen the precision of trade investigations. He noted the commission’s Tariff Policy Centre would use the digital platform to create a more transparent and predictable trade regime for Pakistan’s commercial and industrial sectors.
PSW Chief Executive Syed Aftab Haider said integrating the commission’s tariff functions into PSW’s digital ecosystem would create stronger institutional linkages between the two bodies. Both organisations reaffirmed their shared commitment to building a transparent, growth-oriented trade and tariff regime that enhances the competitiveness of Pakistan’s domestic industries.
