Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) took over the twitter to announce that it has not issued any notification regarding the ban on Telenor. PTA clarified that it is not planning to ban any cellular company.

Earlier there was a notification circulating on WhatsApp advising people to switch to another network or use all of their mobile balance and clear their easy paisa account before Dec 10, 2019, because PTA will ban all Telenor services from Dec 11.

PTA said in their tweet “PTA is aware of a false advertisement circulating via WhatsApp chat groups for users of a mobile operator. PTA clarifies that the aforementioned advertisement is fake,”

PTA also urged the users “to refrain from circulating it since it might generate confusion and inconvenience for consumers”.

“The public is advised to always check official information sources such as PTA’s website at or its Twitter & Facebook page for the latest news/updates.”

Last week, the standing committee of the National Assembly, chaired by Ali Khan Jadoon was briefed by the Information Technology Board.
