Education boards across Punjab have increased registration and migration fees for matriculation students. This hike applies to Classes 9 and 10 for the upcoming 2026–28 academic session. Authorities cite financial constraints as the primary reason for this decision. Currently, all nine Punjab boards have officially started the matric registration process.
Students must submit their registration forms with the normal fee until June 8. Under the revised structure, the total registration cost stands at Rs. 2,350. This total includes a registration fee of Rs. 1,150, a processing fee of Rs. 870, and a sports fee of Rs. 300.
Furthermore, students who miss the initial deadline can still register between June 9 and June 23. However, they must pay an additional late fee of Rs. 600.
The boards have also updated charges for other essential student services. For instance, students can correct personal data until October 31 for a fee of Rs. 750. After this specific deadline, the fee climbs to Rs. 1,250.
Similarly, subject changes will cost Rs. 2,400 until October 31. This specific amount rises to Rs. 2,900 after the deadline passes. Meanwhile, the authorities have set the new migration fee at Rs. 4,800.
To successfully complete the registration process, students must submit a B-Form. They must also provide their father’s national identity card. Consequently, teachers and parents have quickly voiced concerns over these rising registration and migration fees. They argue that the sudden increase will place significant financial strain on families with limited incomes.
