The Punjab government is planning to significantly increase the per-student subsidy for Punjab Education Foundation (PEF)-affiliated Public School Reorganization Program (PSRP) schools.
Under the proposal, the subsidy will rise from the current Rs. 1,250 to Rs. 3,000 per student, providing greater financial support to partner schools operating under the public-private partnership model.
According to officials, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is expected to formally announce the subsidy increase in the coming days.
The proposed enhancement is intended to strengthen the financial sustainability of partner schools and improve the quality of education provided to students.
The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) provides financial assistance to private schools participating in government-backed education programs through its subsidy model.
Officials believe the proposed increase will:
- Help schools manage rising operational costs.
- Improve teaching and learning standards.
- Strengthen the public-private partnership in education.
- Enhance access to quality education for students.
According to reports, the Punjab Education Foundation has already submitted a summary of the proposal to the provincial government for approval.
Once approved, the revised subsidy is expected to provide substantial financial relief to PSRP-affiliated schools and support improvements in educational services across Punjab.
