Xiaomi has shared more details about the upcoming Redmi Note 17 ahead of its launch in China. The company recently confirmed that the smartphone will feature a large 7-inch display and an 8,000mAh battery.
A few years ago, a 7-inch screen would have been considered tablet-sized. However, smartphone makers are now pushing the limits with larger displays and bigger batteries.
A leaked display card, shared by a source, has now revealed more specifications of the Redmi Note 17. According to the information, the device will support 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse charging. In comparison, the higher-end Redmi Note 17 Pro will offer faster 67W charging.
The display will come with Gorilla Glass protection, although Xiaomi has not revealed the exact version. It will also reach up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness.
The Redmi Note 17 will carry an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. The Redmi Note 17 Pro, on the other hand, will offer the more durable IP69K certification. These specifications currently apply to the Chinese variants, and it remains unclear whether the global models will keep the same features.
The smartphone will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor. The chip is a recently launched entry-level 5G platform built on a 4nm process.
Xiaomi has not yet confirmed the RAM and storage options for the device. However, a previous Geekbench listing suggested that one version could come with 12GB of RAM.
Official images also show that the Redmi Note 17 will feature a single 50MP rear camera. Xiaomi says the camera will include several AI-powered features. In addition, the handset will come with stereo speakers and support a 200% volume boost.
The Redmi Note 17’s 8,000mAh battery is impressive on its own. However, it still falls short of the Redmi Note 17 Pro, which packs an even larger 9,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi will officially unveil the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro in China tomorrow. For now, the company has not shared any details about an international launch.
